Guitar Lesson--John Frusciante "Under The Bridge"

John Frusciante is very bass like on his "worn to the wools" strat.
A lot of players have a hard time playing the same instrument that
is teaching you in the video.

I've found if you take a tune and learn to play from the same instrument,it gets difficult to play each chord of the Chili's "Under the Bridge".

Under The Bridge is more of a bass like song--and if you learn it by playing each chord, lick, or note on a Bass axe you would learn to play each guitar lick of this Pepper's tune step by step.

Basically you're learning how to play bass on this song, then switching to lead guitar.John also teaches you to shut-off strings and hammer your chording hand for a better tone and feel.

Basic Chicken Pickin' is vital to John, and learning a rhythm type of textural chording structure. Bottom feeding chords like a bass player and not using so much force is also an important part of John's playing on the high end of the fret board and the higher strings.

Decreasing and increasing how much fretting space there is in your hands will create more textural feeling in your playing, and a melody that takes your playing to a whole new level.

Peace and success to all players.
