Jimi Hendrix Has Some Advice For Players In This 1969 Interview With Dick Cavett

I pondered on whether to put this Hendrix interview up. I watched it twice and saw that Hendrix said some pretty profound things, that players should heed to. First of all the most important thing is not to be into youself because people give you compliments all the time about your music. Don't take it at face value. Take it as a signal to become a better musician, especially if people say you play like SRV or Hendrix.

Jimi also talked about music changing and that bands seemed to feel this need to be louder than the next band. Even Dee Curtis said your band doesn't need to be loud. But I do feel blues is music that gets to your soul like no other music. Jimi also talked about people who talk for a living, and that words mean nothing. Basically it's empty words.

But art means something whether it's music, being an artist or a writer like me. Become a success as a musician, but keep it simple and be a real artist who helps other players.
