"Learn How To Play Guitar From This Deaf, Dumb and Blind Kid"
"That Deaf, Dumb Blind Kid Sure Plays Mean Pin Ball" ("Tommy") The Who
Eh, everybody.
Okay, this isn't exactly a primer on how to play guitar, but an illuminating interview with Pete Townsend from 1969. He talks about the song "Tommy" and the story of the song it's self. Not how he came up with the lyrics or any bloody concept or theme. As well, I'm putting my 2 cents in here like usual.
To me Tommy shows axemen how they can learn from someone who can't Hear,Talk or see for that friggin' matter. It also teaches you not to think about what you can't do as a guitarist. Just play your ass off like you were meant to and do what you love being a musician and playing for the spiritual benefit.
Learn Something from Pete:
I've watched a number of interviews from Pete Townsend and he's articulate and intelligent way beyond this writer. Basically, Pete and Tommy show you how to get out of yourself and stop thinking about what you can't do as musician, what you don't have and just forget about your flaws or mistakes. It's about Jamming, Camaraderie, and Relationships with other musicians. Not Money, Fame or Adulation.
So watch this interview with Pete very intently, and learn from Tommy or someone you know who is maybe considered an outcast for any physical or emotional reason, and what they have to overcome, and know any small flaws you have are nothing. And hopefully you've learned from Pete, and a little from yours truly.
Keep Playing Like It's Everything Guys
