Tony Mcalpine--Shred Guitar Master You Can Learn The Basics Of Prog Rock From

I went back and listened to "Empire in The Sky" from 1986 by Shrapnel Records from Tony Mcalpine. Tony is considered one of the better prog guitar shred masters who can make his technical and textural playing always move to where it takes you on a journey.

Yes, I bought the actual record back in 1986. The song Empire In The Sky has blues riffs which you should learn bit by bit from the start of the song, and become familiar with it. Record yourself playing along with it kind of like double tracking guitars. Learn each lick like it was so important.

I'm going to also leave a link to Shrapnel Records where you can still buy Tony's material. A lot of players including bass players and drummers can learn from this song and learn to play full lead guitar notes and riffs to where you're applying those lead techniques and playing in lock step with the lead guitarist, or even a vocalist.

In some respects that in lock step playing being like Black Sabbath. When you take little riffs and emulate certain tones, but include  mainly your own in Tony's song, you'll also become a better player. You'll do it without thinking as well.

So listen to the tune then head over to Shrapnel records and pick up Tony's material.

Much success to all players.
