Bass Northwest or Bass NW, is one of the only Bass only shops in North America. Or Bottom Feeder heaven for bass players. Evan Sheeley, the co owner of Bass NW did a long distance email interview with this writer and gave me a few tid-bits on why Bass NW does so well focusing on just the Bass and it's related equipment.
Bass NW started in 1994 way out west in Seattle, Washington. Evan had played in a number of successful bands as an in demand Bottom Feeder. But before I go into all
that, when Evan stopped playing his ass off he felt his time was better served helping Bass players at a music store called Seattle Music.

Helping Bass players succeed was more his forte, and making piles of cash didn't seem to envelope him at this point. Chad Beeler an associate of Evan's convinced
Evan to start a Bass only business. I don't know much on Chad so I won't go into
anything on him. Sorry guys.
Of particular note, Steve Fossen the original Bass player for the band Heart, is one
of the bottom-feeder gurus at Bass NW. I see an interview there. But one thing that
Evan and company focus on is making sure that your bass goes out of Bass NW ready
for action for a gig, jam session, or playing at home.
Another thing that had me pondering was, Bass NW does big business on the internet. An article I read on Bass NW in Bass Guitar said at that time approximately 3 years ago they did more business online than walk in business.
But all customers still get the same value related help so they're bass, amp, and total setup are ready at the quick. I'm not sure if their online biz still topples their bricks and mortar business.
Okay, back to Evan. Evan played with the band TKO back in the early 80's and had
success on the road and album wise. Sheeley also played with a band called Q5 and
one of the band members was Floyd Rose--Yes, that Floyd Rose who invented the Tremelo, whammy bar, what ever you like.
Bass NW seems to be a business that takes care of the needs of bass players first and money some where off in the distance.
MG: What is the main focus of Bass NW, to help bass players with the best bass axes, and set them up the way they want for their music? or what? -
http://www.bassnw.com
ES: The main focus of Bass Northwest when my partner Chad Beeler and I opened it in 1994 and to this day is to be an all encompassing store for bass players owned and operated by bass players. We provide the best new and used bass gear as well as over 100 years of combined experience in the bass world. We do not view our customers as "walking wallets" like a majority of other music stores and online companies. We view our customers that we deal with as "musical artists".
MG: Evan, could you give me a rundown of what Chad, Steve and Eddy do at Bass NW to create such great value for Bass Players? -
ES: Well, my partner Chad Beeler, Steve Fossen (ex-Heart bassist) and Eddy Ferguson all provide professional service and the knowledge that it takes to help a customer to get the correct bass gear. Many times, we have had customers thinking that they wanted or needed a particular product only to find out from talking to us that it wasn't the right item at all. We care about our customers and still have a lot of them that started shopping with us when we first opened almost 15 years ago.
This is a very short interview, and I hope for those who either live in Washington state, or want service from people who truly care about your Bass playing journey
will seek out Bass NW, in person or on the web.
The Bass NW guys will help you get the right bass and amp and maybe show you a lick or two. For more info go on the Bass NW site or call them. The information is just below this.
