One Of The Most Under Rated Guitarist's Of All Time
Back in 1978 when I was 15 most guys who liked music were into Kiss.We liked how the music sounded, not how great the players were,or trying to pigeon-hole where their music was.But now that I think about it,a lot of guitarist's of the mid to late 70's were under rated, and the ones that shredded without any forethought just bored me,so I could go back to my quilting hobby.
Just seeing if you were awake there fellow axemen. This is why I loved guys like Ace Frehley of Kiss.Ace was strictly a Gibson Les Paul player--and used Marshall Stacks.
Frehley looked out of this world when playing, and it reflected in his playing which was definitely Pre-80's Shredding techniques that had a definite blues dervied and tinged note effect. His playing believe it or not took you on a journey that had this 15 year old in his grasp.
It seemed the more Rock based blues chord structures Ace played, the more his originality shined, and he was able to slightly change up what the band was playing, and actually stretch their playing. His playing on their brand name song as I call it was--"Detroit Rock City" was very bass axe like in technique.
Think of the under rated guitarist's you know and have loved over the years, and you'll say the shredders sucked.
