I wanted to post this back up here. I originally posted this on FB 2 years ago. A lot of musicians and fans don't know who Jason Becker is. He's not just a great guitarist, but a person who has fought back despite the odds of the disease he caught approximately 26 years ago.
Most people would have given up with the debilitating disease he contracted. Not Jason.
Didn't want New Year's to go by without mentioning this inspiring musician. Jason Becker is a cat who was picked to become the replacement for Stevie Vai in David Lee Roth's band. That was in 89'. Jason unfortunately contracted ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease. Where most people would have given up, Jason has fought the good fight and even though he can't play, he still composes, hires musicians and has a team of great people around him. He says he is not that great and is very humble as a person. But I listened to his material back when Shrapnel Records discovered him and he was on that label. Mike Varney knew great talent before they hit it big. Jason played at a level most musicians only dream of. Yet, he learns from even players who've only been playing for a number of months. That's how Jason rolls and is one of the kindest souls music has put out there. I've left a link to the interview he did with Guitar World. Thanks Jason, you give a lot of musicians and non ones hope for the future even if they can't see it right now. I know you'll love this interview. Peace everyone http://www.guitarworld.com/perpetual-burn-jason-becker-disc…
