Why practice is so vital for your band and it's success.

Why practice is so vital for your band and it's success. You still think it's not important and that natural talent is what you need.

Well, bullshit to that. If that were the case a guy like Tiger Woods wouldn't be a billionaire and have achieved what most golfers never will. If your band plays twice a week locally and twice a month out of town, you need to practice still. Your band should practice 3 times a week to get down set lists and come up with new songs and flesh out new material at practice's, jams and just by yourself.
Seems like a bit too much doesn't it? Not if you love being a musician. Your practice sessions don't have to be two hours; they only have to be intense, focused and working on set lists like I said, and new material. Along with that any material your band has a hard time getting down. Never wait until your band starts playing like shit before correcting those errors. Yeah, not every band plays every song like a friggin' top. That's why you shouldn't just work on material that your band doesn't play well. Focus on your material that your band does well, and do everything in your power to make sure you play even better.
Sounds stupid doesn't it? That's my Contrarian thinking at work fellow players. The famous baseball Manager Earl Weaver said; Don't practice things if you're not doing well, practice those things always, even if you do them well. Keep these tips in mind guys. Your practice sessions can be an hour or 45 minutes of focused work. 3 or 4 times a week. Sound like too much? Too bad, get to work. I don't say these things to come down hard on musicians or be an asshole. Which I am to some degree.
And yes there are bands that play so much they rarely if at all practice. But ask yourself, do they make much money? If not, get back to work practicing guys.
