Most musicians end up sending someone on their contact list an email
they wished they never sent. Especially E-Mails to Agents, Managers and
Record Label Weasels. Yeah, we all make that mistake once in a while,
especially in a world of instant e-mail messaging. We even piss off our
significant others by way of email.
But for this article we'll focus on music industry people, and a link to a very wise person and article on just this subject of knowing when to do a Joey Lawrence "Whoa," and hold back on sending emails we know we shouldn't be sending even to our best buddy we drank our face off with a month ago.
His name is John Carlton and he's one of the best damn copywriters around and has had many decades to learn the psychology of people through being in big business. Believe me he knows what he speaks of. He's the Steven Seagal of Copywriting lads. Musicians, you'll learn a thing or two from his article and actually resonate with him on certain of aspects writing, thinking about life and being a great musician and business person.
Carlton is also a well known musician who's got some great chops to boot. Believe you me, if you stick with him and learn how to write and understand those "blasted humans," your band and it's business will flourish, and you might even start to understand the wife. Well, maybe not. You can even subscribe to Carlton's blog and learn at the feet of a Master. Kind of like learning Blues from one of the Masters.
Well worth the read to actually learn something about yourself fellow players. Just click the link below.
