Gene Simmons On Making Money--And Why You Musicians Should Listen To Him--I'm Not Kidding!!

Most musicians and people who know who Gene Simmons think he's all about entertaining people and playing with Kiss. Yeah, that's part of what he does but over the years the band Kiss who he fronts, has had their money from album sales wane quite a bit.

But like a smart businessman Gene has gravitated into other areas of making money with the Kiss brand.  Only most musicians and business people won't come anywhere near what he does because they're too lazy and think it can't be done.

That's not true...

If it was most musicians would never make jack shit, and Kiss would be in the trash dump of the music industry many decades ago. But Gene refused to just make money from album sales and playing gigs. Yes, they made a shit ton of dough from tours, but Mr. Simmons figured out that licensing of Kiss products, and more than likely, other bands and their products would make them money on the side without having to tour or record constant albums.

Now I'm only assuming this that Gene was a Manager of other top bands because of you can't ever let go of making money as a musician.

Why?

It's simple, if you don't you're dead in the water.

I am including a short article that was a part of an interview Gene did the BBC on Kiss and yes, making money and why you better not ever quit doing.

And don't tell me you're not interested in making money as a musician. That's bullshit.

I'm posting that article right here below this. Yeah, i might get in trouble for posting it without their permission, but lets see what happens.

I guarantee you Gene's word are worth a fortune just like I keep talking about Jimmy Page and his playing and production techniques being worth a fortune.

Yet none of you listen to it or implement any of these tips. For the few who do, I take my hat off to you.

Here's that article from Gene which is pure fuckin' gold in my books.

(NEWSER) Gene Simmons is worth more than $300 million, but the KISS rocker says that's not enough. "Life is business, and I approach life the way sharks approach life—they must keep moving or else they will drown," he says in a new interview. "I'll never stop hunting more money, I'll never have enough. ... I live to make more money. People who say that money is the root of all evil are morons, a lack of money is the root of all evil." Simmons, who spoke to theBBC about KISS' sold-out world tour, notes that he has always managed the band's finances, and that it was his idea for the band to sell a ton of licensed products—which have ultimately made it more money than its actual records.
The band has authorized more than 5,000 pieces of merch over the years, from ashtrays and lunchboxes to pinball machines and coffins. As for Simmons' feelings about people who accuse the band of "selling out" because of this, the BBC notes that "a liberal amount of swear words" were edited out of his thoughts on the matter: "All our lives KISS has been hounded by people who haven't achieved anything. And we buried them long ago." So how does Simmons manage to achieve so much? Never having a hangover is part of it, he says. He tells the BBC he's never touched a drop of alcohol (or drugs, or a cigarette), which has allowed him to focus on ventures like a movie production company specializing in horror films.
