Musicians,If Stephen J.Cannell Who's Dyslexic Can Become A Great Hollywood Writer--You Can Write Great Songs And Create Original Music That Kills

This is a repost musicians need to learn from and cultivate a writing style from outside the music realm. That being from one of Hollywood's greatest writers from the small screen. Anyone 45 or over will remember this writer like he was your best friend late at night after playing a jam session or a gig. But this writer had a disability that didn't keep him from being one of the best script writers, period.

I included a video by this writer on how to pitch to TV Executives which can be transferred to pitching to major or indie record labels. As well, a video that you'll remember from his shows which happened at the end of every one of his shows. I think you'll gain a lot of knowledge from this writer if you apply it and take action.

Stephen J. Cannell, is known as one of Hollywood's greatest writers but had a learning problem when he was in high school. Dyslexia. Somehow, he managed despite all that to make mega-bucks in Hollywood. He wrote and co-wrote  the 60's show Ironside and Columbo. Cannell also wrote the famous A-Team  show which is coming out with a movie this year. Then Wise Guy and Hunter. Cop action dramas were a big part of his repertoire.

How To Pitch To TV Executives--Or In a Musicians Case a Record Label

The Famous Stephen J.Cannell Part At The End Of His TV Shows

If he could take a creative writing course and never stop writing regardless of never making a dime for years, you musicians can write songs and music that can make you money in CD sales and gig cash galore. Creating your own product like Cannell did will make you more money in the long run as a musician.

When Cannell started writing pilots and co-writing for shows, he made about 600 a week. When his agent figured out he could develop pilots and make 10's of thousands, and a cut of the action, was hooked. Players, you can make your own original work and write for bands to create Joint Ventures that benefit you both. Creating value for someone else like I always talk about.

But if any pilots got made Stephen received a bonus of over 100 G's. Hows that for being a dyslexic writer? Still think you can't write a song. Just learn from others. Remember in the 70's and 80's when Cannell's logo  for his production company would close the show? He'd be typing and he'd rip the paper out of the type- writer and it would turn into an animated version of: Stephen J.Cannell Productions.

I still remember the music at the end. Musicians, be entertained a little by TV shows, but watch them for the music, writing and how actors play the dialog in the script. By the way, Cannell still used an IBM Selectric for his writing. He only used the internet for research. Still think you can't write songs or music, email me and I'll help you out. Musicians, you can make money as a writer and player.

Much respect to the departed Stephen J. Cannell. I will always remember your great show writing.

Musicians, you can learn from Steve.
