How Your Band Can Help Other Musicians And Make Money In This So-Called Recession

Why Today is The Best Time To Make Money As A Musician

By Mark Grove

If you already play regularly you are making some money. But creating value for your fans and bonding with them is so important. But music is different than a regular product or service.

Because what's important is you're playing the music you want, not what the fans want. Most people are easily swayed by the flavour of the day in music. I don't care if you're a blues guy, C And W, Metal or Hip-Hop.

But thinking that you can't make a significant amount of money as a musician, and you'll be making no money eventually. You've got to be able to turn your recessionist thinking around.

I've told you guys to do two things.Write your own articles to keep fresh material in your press-kit and on your website if you have one. And you should take on a regular writer who can set up Fan Question and Answer sessions at your gigs.

Even have question and answer sessions during the week of your gigs as well. This will bring more fans and potential fans out as well. Barter writing services by offering guitar lessons and free admission to gigs for your writer.

To get people to your website, have a banner set up behind the band on stage with your band name and the website address. This way fans automatically see the website address.

Musicians Marketing:

The way most musicians do business is just say here's my stuff and how much it costs. Pay me. You might sell a few but chances are that won't last long.

Push The Free Stuff:

First of all you don't want to come off as a salesman type which turns most people off. Build a friendship with your fans by offering free EP's and demos. Including the Q and A sessions at gigs and otherwise will help your band sell CDS immensely.

You can't be a salesman who puts pressure on fans to buy guys.

Being good to people and building long lasting relationships with fans will keep fans and they will resonate more with your band as a result. It doesn't have to cost a fortune to make EP's or demos either.

Find a good recording engineer who you can barter services with. Offer to write articles for them to promote their services in return. Do Q and A sessions on how to record CDS for this engineer as well. Think of ways to help people in return for services that help your band.

Keeping a solid cash flow continuing in your band is what's vital.

Interview Other Band's:

I keep saying this. Help other band's by interviewing them and offering Q and A sessions to them. Run the sessions and in return get more exposure for your band.

Seems like a lot of work doesn't it? Well get ready to work even more.

Jam sessions, interview bands, Q and A sessions, Band jams and practice. Lets see. Song writing, recording and even have fans come out to practices and recording sessions at certain times.

If your band has a player who has their own home studio, offer free recording for local bands. Give away free stuff at an even bigger level.

If you give away free EPS and help other musicians, you will eventually sell more CDS and make more money gigging.

And include writing articles for free for other bands as well as Q and A sessions.

Helping other musicians will help your band prosper.

Peace and success to all bands
